Awesome Bags My Friend Made

Cool_duffel_bag Cool_golf_bag
Reminds Me of My Pacu.

I love these bags. Customisable, filled with pockets, absolutely beautiful, BUT WHY OH WHY DON'T YOU MAKE LAPTOP BAGS QGROOVE!

Since Qgroove's making them fully customisable - which is cool - maybe I can persuade her to fully customise a laptop bag that I can masculinely carry.

Hey Pam, it was great catching up on facebook, great to hear what old schoolmates are up to ten years after JC.

Some Weekends Are For Emotional Spartans

Horrible Things That Have Happened
I'm literally steaming over events that happened over the weekend. If you're interested, we can catch up over tea and scones, and you can hear me growl about it - but not here. I'm just making a mark on this blog to time-stamp the issue that I'm boiling over. Honestly now, I'm using what self-control I have left to hold myself back from writing about it (I'm not doing a good job, eh). Whatever the case, I'm thankful for my family, and I'm glad that they are beside me no matter what happens.

Good Things That Have Happened
I've submitted more articles, which I hope will reap some good news. I ought to be more specific: I'm hoping for a possible long term gig that will help the budget situation, and give me some exposure to the community of freelance writing. There are other bits of interesting news, but I'll share those in detail in time to come.

Friends, Unsatisfied - Me Too
I had a chance to meet a bunch of buddies Friday night, people whom I've known come ten years now. Two are engineers, one's a lawyer, one's a manager. All in archetypal Gen-X careers. I sense all of them want to change that, and change soon. "But how?" they ask. "Just go for it," says I. I see the Missus smiling approvingly, which is assuring. Which reminds me, I've got to show you guys something. A friend of mine's just started a new line of customised golf/duffel bags, which are entirely aweseome. Go check it out!

See Shores
I was telling you that I feel like I'm going through multiple phases of life at the same time. It's probably true. Things are happening so fast I can't keep up.

Also, I realise that once David comes, our couple-y times would most probably evaporate. While I would have liked a little more time to enjoy our couplehood together, and not need to expend energies on worthless situations, like the ones that happened over the weekend.

I need some time at quiet beach, away from it all, like we used to. Even if it's just for a while.

I'll bring the McGriddles, and you can bring the apple juice, dear.

Climate Control

Aircon
Drill Bang Bang Drill

The old air-conditioning system gave up the ghost a few months back after 14 years of service. We've been making do without climate control pretty well (and have been for the past year or so), and honestly, we didn't miss it.

Over the past two weeks however, the nights got really warm. The missus would wake up (apart from the usual leg cramps and hunger pangs) in face-fulls of sweat. It was the same case with me. I woke up often with my back slick with sweat. Mum didn't say much, but I knew she had been having uncomfortable nights as well.

So, we thought about it for a while, and decided to pop in a new machine. We saw it this way: on one hand, while the adults didn't mind the heat that much; we were more concerned about the little tikes that were on the way. We're on the second floor, see, and the awkward block design blocked cool wind from all sides except the one facing the road (air from main road = bad air).

We all chipped in, and got a new system. Not a necessity by any means, but if it meant everyone getting more comfortable at the end of it, it's worth it.

Hopefully we'll get a good night's rest tonight, once we're all cleaned up. A pram, a cot, and a few napkins, and we're all set to go.

Health, or the Lack Thereof

I have a graph depicting my waistline that mirrors this one at a horizontal axis. No prizes guessing how it looks like.

Ten Reasons Why I Need My Wife

Originally uploaded by Jams_123

Just ten. But I'm warning you, this might get mushy.

  1. I'll be a grumpy old pooch if she didn't tell me to be nice.
  2. I won't be able to fall asleep at the right times (non-unearthly hours) without her patting my head. (Works better than warm milk. Mostly because milk gives me gas.)
  3. I get to stay home more often. Strangely, I've grown to like this.
  4. I won't have someone to fool around with.
  5. I want, for once, to not have to play with SOEKs (SomeOne Else's Kids) and start to have SOMOs (Some Of My Own).
  6. One word: Comfort.
  7. Birds, bees; cars, keys (figuratively, if you please)
  8. I won't have someone to blame for leaving wedding dinners early.
  9. I can't make it through a day without seeing her smiling back at me. I just can't.
  10. There's also that noodle dish.

Gents, I absolutely *DARE* you to go up to your wife tonight, and her one thing you need her for.

Really. Do it.

The Lady Needs Rest

Originally uploaded by Jakob Lodwick

Emergency
The Missus called this morning as I was ready to leave for a meeting, telling me she's had some complications. Man - I can't begin to say how absolutely flustered I get when I receive calls like this. It's just a nasty thing.

Imagine The Worst Possible Scenario
Then multiply it by a factor of anxiousness, and raise it to the power of flustered-ness. Then imagine yourself going through the slowest traffic possible. I didn't imagine that last part though. Traffic around Singapore (at least at the areas I was at) was horrendous. There was hardly a stretch of road that didn't have a throng of vehicles swerving about for the best lane. Still, I managed to pick up the lady and send her to the hospital by Ten O'clock. Phew.

Diagnosis? Wait A While
The scan shows Baby Koh to be alright and comfy, if not a little drowsy. We peeked at his features and his genitalia (I wonder why they make it a point to find it - I mean, where would it go?), and heard a strong heart beat. Double Phew. All's right with our boy. By the end of the visit, we ruled out premature contractions, but we still have to wait for a report that will confirm the real reason why we went in the first place. It's either blood (bad) or an infection (gross). Either way, the worst is over, but waiting is the hardest part - don't you know?

She'll Need To Rest
And that's the truth. Pray with us if you can.

I tire easily these days.

Maybe it's the lack of regular exercise (a situation, I promise, I am working on by means of a step machine), or a regular sleeping pattern. It might even be the stress common to urban humanity.

Whatever the case, I'm tired.

He Wakes Up at Ten-Thirty PM

Baby_5_months_2
I'm late uploading this pic, I know.

Thump-Thump-Thump
No kidding. And he kicks Mummy all night.

I'm not sure if you can see it, but that's his leg that's suspended over his head. He's not curled up, he's sit-and-reaching.

He's growing so fast.

The Lady Whipped Up an Amazing Meal

Img_2735

She started at about 3pm in the afternoon, grating ginger and chopping garlic. All for two, very sumptuous dishes, which were actually her granny's specialties. Simple, delicious, unforgettable.

Img_2734

Unforgettable, because it's the first meal she's prepared since she moved in. Man. Can't wait for the next one.
