Coming Home
Actually, it's his second day home today, and - apart from a number of rashy spots that look like mini mosquito bites - he's already settling in rather nicely.
The Night Of The Kicking Baby
Last night was no joke - we were all out to get him breast fed, but poor latching made him as squirmy as a a slug with salt on its back. After calming out bucking calfling, we managed to sneak in 60 mls of formula milk, and gave everyone a rest.
The Baby Wars
Today wasn't much different. He was jumping in Angela's arms, until my aunties came by to give a bunch of extremely useful tips (thanks Koko and Toa Ko!). Still, it was a battle at night to get him to feed, and the lady's all exhausted. So's our confinement lady, who shook heads together with us as he was feeding.
Priorities
Perhaps the best part of today was getting our couplehood back on track. For a moment, she paused, and said, "I need a hug". And so did I. So, for the first time in months, we gave each other a big bear hug - since David was no longer sandwiched there between us. It was nice.
I thought about it for a while, and it hit me how easy it was to get busy fussing over David and completely miss caring for her and meeting her needs. I'll have to get that corrected right away.
Okay, One Last David Photo For Tonight
Oh oh! Yuling's got a really nice shot of him on the day before he left - it's his favourite position. (Miss SIm, if you're reading this, this is for you!)

wow! very well equipped sleeping/changing station! :O)
All too soon, he'll be sleeping length-wise of that cot! ;O)
don't you wish that babies came with an instruction manual though? That's what I thought when we had no. 1.

Agreed on that instruction manual thing - or, at least with a checklist of items to get and how much food he needs to eat.
Or a sign that says, "Feed Me" or "Change Me" or "Your Armpit Stinks" instead of ambiguous crying. That'll help loads.

Welcome to Parenthood! Don't give up on the breastfeeding part, it's very very difficult in the beginning, but it's all worth it! Remember to get a lactation expert to come to your house if possible yeah? God bless!!
